Legacy: Steel & Sorcery Alpha Playtest #4 Patch Notes

TL;DR

This is a somewhat smaller, iterative patch focused on polish and balance changes. In this build we've done a lot of class balance changes, introduced a new weapon for the Priest (Sword & Buckler) and put all character art (player character, faces, armor and weapons) into the game. Let us know what you think!

We've also fixed some issues with the Lodge (Bed not working) and have moved the Crafting Bench into the Lodge (from the City/Vendors UI). The Hunter also has a new ability called "Sentinel's Call" which summons her Hawk companion as a temporary "pet" of sorts. This ability is new so there is still some polish and improvements left to go.

We think we've addressed a lot of the bugs with inventory and stash containers which were introduced in the previous build, but please let us know if you notice anything still sus with that system).
Warning Unfortunately there are still some bugs that will make it into the build since we're in Alpha, please see the  Known Issues  section for a list of those.


Sparkling Heart Featured Changes

Spiral Notepad General Changes

  • Added an Emote Wheel. Press and hold the Emote button to use different emotes!

Revolving Hearts Matchmaking

  • Autofill will now be more reliable in finding you party members. This will make autofill matchmaking take longer.
  • Added more protections against spawning on top of enemy players

Crossed Swords Combat

  • Reduced how long it takes for players to be able to evade out of Small and Medium staggers

Woman Mage Classes

Warrior

  • Hurling a Boulder now deals 50% more damage
  • Enrage
  • Warrior takes 50% less damage during it
  • Duration increased to 4 seconds
  • Cost increased to 40 rage
  • No longer breaks or provides immunity to stuns, only staggers
  • Mace & Spiked Shield
  • Reduced the baseline damage reflected when blocking to 10% down from 15%
  • Also reduced the damage reflected bonus on the mace perk to the same values
  • Quake (Q Weapon Skill)
  • Doubled the damage
  • Snare increased to 70% movement speed reduction
  • Increased the radius by 25%
  • Axe
  • Fixed sprint attack left click combo-ing into the wrong Power Attack
  • Add sprint attack combo window into the right click power attack
  • Trait - Anchored Chain
  • Visuals are no longer a cube!
  • Improved jump feel — Height remains unchanged

Hunter

  • New ability: "Sentinel Call"
  • Command your sentinel to fly forward attacking the first enemy it hits for a short duration or until killed. The Sentinel gets stronger the more Swiftness you have when summoning it.

Rogue

  • All claws now deal 2 block damage, up from 0
  • Missing a claw attack from stealth, will break stealth

  • Attempted fix for permanently invisible rogue
  • Fixed - blob shadow under the rogue cannot be seen by other players

Priest

  • Attempted fixes at reducing how often the stars would not deal damage when being manually detonated
  • Attempted fixes to reduce how often stars do not spawn
  • Removed minor delay on the manually triggered explosions now that they deal damage to the caster

Deciduous Tree World (Greenwood)

  • Added a 30% chance for Red skeletons to spawn at most spawn points in the Castle and Graveyard
  • Greenwood Chapel in the southwest corner of the map has received an updated art pass
  • Lair of Mor'Thog has also undergone a slight rework and art pass to the interior space

Hammer and Pick Items & Progression

  • Class toolbelts are now soulbound, as are any items held in their slots. This means you will not lose the belt or the items in it when you die (Spears, Prayer Card, Smoke Bombs, Wind Arrows, etc.)
  • Can now eat several foods for minor health restoration (Apple, Rotten Apple, Carrot, Cheese, Celery, Ham, Potato, Pumpkin, Vegetable Medley)
  • Destructible barrels and crates now sometimes drop items
  • Characters no longer start with shoulder armor
  • More food can be found in containers and as loot pickups
  • Updated lodge progression to require unique drops for each tier
  • Starting healing items are now placed into your slot toolbelt
  • Did an improvement pass on Quick Looting:
Quick Looting means any act that tries to place an item into any available item slot, so picking up items off the ground, quick swapping between two inventories, and the like.
  • Quick Looting now tests rotation when trying to find an empty slot to put an item into
  • Quick Looting will now try to preserve item rotation
  • Toolbelt Slots are now considered when Quick Looting
  • Stash Container Slots are now considered when Quick Looting
  • Quick Looting will try to place items in the currently viewed stash tab

  • Fixed an issue where stash tabs would delete their items during account load
  • Fixed an issue where the stash would be set to maximum possible size on all tabs after the stash lodge module was upgraded.
  • Fixed empty slots in item slot lists not being respected during inventory loading
  • This includes empty slots not being respected for stash toolbelt slots and the stash upgrade slots.
  • Fixed the bed not accumulating rested exp
  • Fixed a bug where the 0,0 slot of a stash tab grid may vanish when manipulating stash upgrade containers
  • Fixed a bug where you could duplicate stash upgrade containers
  • Reduced chance for gemlin to spawn when breaking crates
  • Inventory sounds have been updated to more closely match the item type. If you hear one that doesn't sound right, let us know
  • Increased the stack size of Nails to 50
  • Reduced the stack size of Paralyzing Dart to 3

Coin Vendors

  • Changed order in which recipes are earned from the Tavernkeep
  • Can now craft the Sentinel Arrow at the crafting bench
  • Disabled recipes for wooden arrow and paper (these items can still be purchased and found in game)
  • Waxed rope is once again a recipe available from the Tailor at level 3
  • Removed the gold cost from Copper Pot recipe
  • Crafting bench has been moved to the lodge. Recipes from the crafting bench have been assigned to an upgrade tier of the crafting bench

Skull and Crossbones Encounters

All Enemies:
  • Armor values have been reduced overall
Skeletons:
  • Skeleton attacks have more accurate attack areas
  • Skeleton health adjusted to better reflect player expectations
  • Defender (Shield) Skeleton got lots of behavior iterations and some new abilities!
  • Sentry (Unarmed) Skeleton reduced to a starter mob
  • HP has been reduced on the Defender and Soldier skeletons
Wolves:
  • Wolf attacks now have more accurate attack areas
  • Wolf attacks now have slightly less motion
  • Leash Range reduced slightly
  • Cooldown on Wolf Evade skill increased
  • Can no longer evade while Stunned or Rooted
Gemlin:
  • Cry for help visuals were improved
  • Gemlin health increased



Computer Mouse UI/UX

  • Crafting Bench is now in the Lodge instead of being a vendor
  • Socketing is now available from the Enchantress (but no gems yet?)
  • Bed lodge module shows more information
  • Tailor and Tavernkeep have final art + animations
  • Retrieve-only tabs in item grids now say "You can't place items here."
  • Quick loot will preserve rotation of items
  • Quick loot now loots into the selected stash tab
  • Quick loot can automatically place items into designated containers or slots (like equipment being quick looted directly into an equipment slot if it's empty)
  • Added an escape button to the character selection screen
  • Added ambient lodge sounds for the fireplace when it's active



Audio

  • Adjusted Footstep sounds so they are louder, and audible from further away.
  • Fixed audio looping issues with Heaven's Fury
  • Fixed Rogue shouting when he entered stealth. Shouting isn't very stealthy, buddy.
  • Improved sound effects on all enemy types
  • Improved environmental sounds, including adding many new sound effects on various props across greenwood.
  • Improved the audio effects for the lodge and inventory
  • Added audio effects to the Gemlin
  • Fixed a number of actions that weren't triggering item movement sounds



Beetle Known Issues


  • Temporarily removed barrel and coffin stash containers from loot tables
  • Some quest rewards fail to display the item reward in the quest UI
  • They still reward items when you complete the quest and turn it in.
